Dr Abdullah Gok is a Research Associate at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR/PREST). He worked in various research projects including EU-funded INNO-Appraisal, INNO-Policy Trendchart and ERAWATCH. Particularly in the INNO-Appraisal project, that took stock of national innovation programme evaluations across EU25, analysed them, drew lessons on evaluation practices and methods, and finally assessed the usage of evaluations in policy-making, he assumed a core role. He is currently working in projects concerning the evaluation of internationalisation of science and innovation in the Czech Republic, the evaluation practices of EU Structural Fund innovation programmes, certification and conformity assesment in the security industry in Europe and finally a NESTA funded project which syntheses the evidence for effectiveness of various types of innovation policies.
Besides his research engagements, he taught Economics at the undergraduate level at Manchester Business School and takes part in the MIoIR/PREST Executive Short Course on Evaluation of Science and Technology Policies. Prior to joining MIoIR/PREST at 2006, Abdullah worked at the Science and Technology Policy Directorate of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) between 2003 and 2006.
